WFSC Ice Rules & Etiquette
General Rules
- Be on time and prepared for your session.
- Respect coaches, fellow skaters and officials at all times.
- No food, gum or drinks (except water) on the ice.
- Cell phones stay off the ice.
Right of Way
- Skaters doing program to music have the right of way -- please be aware and move aside safely.
- Yield to skaters taking lessons with a coach.
- Always look both ways before starting an element, especially spins and jumps.
Safety & Awareness
- Keep moving - no standing or sitting on the ice.
- Stay aware of other skaters around you.
- If you fall, get up quickly and safely.
- Practice jumps and spins in designated areas, whenever possible.
- Call out "Excuse me" or "Heads up" to alert inattentive skaters.
Etiquette
- Be polite and encouraging to others (foul or abusive language is forbidden).
- Avoid socializing during a session.
- Avoid disruptive behaviour (shouting, horseplay, blocking patterns).
- Share the ice fairly -- everyone deserves space to practice.
- Clear the ice promptly at the end of a session.
Music Use
- Follow the posted music rotation system.
- Be respectful when requesting your program music - one program per turn.
- Coaches may occasionally adjust music order for lessons.
