Program Assistants (PAs)

Program Assistants (PA) assist the Whitby Figure Skating Club (WFSC) professional skating coaches in the delivery of the Pre-Canskate and Canskate Learn to Skate Programs.PAs are a valuable component of the Learn to Skate Programs at WFSC.  Your energy, enthusiasm and strong skating skills will help develop our new skaters, and enable them to enjoy one of Canada’s most popular sports!

 

Who is a PA?

 

Blue PA - Star 4 (completed Star 3) and/or First Year PA

  • Skaters under the age of 12 and/or first year PA, start out as a Blue PA.  After first year, or sooner, Blue PA will move up based on PA qualifications

Yellow PA – Star 6 (completed Star 5) and up

  • Skaters 12 and older

Mandatory PA Sessions

If you are:

  • Required to skate minimum 2 StarSkate sessions you must complete 12 hours of PA for the season (Star 4 and 5)
  • Required to skate minimum 3 StarSkate sessions you must complete 18 hours of PA for the season (Star 6 and up)

Note: the on-ice/off-ice conditioning or spins/edges sessions do not count as sessions for PA hours required

If you register for additional sessions prior to December 31, then your required mandatory hours will be adjusted accordingly.  The timeframe to complete the required hours is during the current skating season, September to March.  By December, if there is no significant attempt in completing the hours, the opt out fee will be applied prior to Winter registration
